Venezuela receives Egyptian medical aid after June earthquakes
Egypt delivered five tonnes of medical supplies to Venezuela following the twin earthquakes on 24 June that killed at least 6,125 people. The cargo landed at Arturo Michelena International Airport in Valencia, Carabobo, and will be distributed to hospitals, health centres, field hospitals and temporary camps in the hardest‑hit areas. The aid includes analgesics, anti‑inflammatories, antipyretics, antibiotics, antivirals and drugs for cardiovascular, digestive, respiratory, antiparasitic, nervous‑system and mental‑health conditions.
The Venezuelan health response also includes multidisciplinary mental‑health teams operating in roughly eight temporary camps in Sucre municipality, providing psychology, psychiatry and social‑work services to families still coping with the disaster.
