Venezuela reaffirms commitment to UN technical cooperation

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia González received Álvaro Rodríguez, the new United Nations resident coordinator in Venezuela, to discuss strengthening technical cooperation mechanisms. During the meeting, Plasencia conveyed a welcome on behalf of acting President Delcy Rodríguez and emphasized a commitment to deepening cooperation through dialogue, mutual respect, and trust.

The discussions also highlighted the support provided by UN agencies following seismic events on June 24, which recorded magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale. The Venezuelan government recognized the UN's response, which included a 60-day multidisciplinary expert deployment to address nine strategic socioeconomic sectors impacted by the earthquakes.

Additionally, Vice Minister for Multilateral Affairs Joaquín Pérez Ayestarán met with Rodríguez to advance an agenda focused on sustainable development and the country's integral recovery.
