Venezuela remains second-largest U.S. crude oil supplier

Venezuela has maintained its position as the second-largest supplier of crude oil to the United States for 18 consecutive weeks. According to preliminary data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), this ranking is driven by increased Venezuelan shipments and a decline in exports from Saudi Arabia to the American market.

On August 7, Venezuelan exports to the U.S. reached 743,000 barrels per day, marking the highest weekly volume recorded since 2017. The four-week moving average for that period stood at 629,000 barrels per day. This growth follows the easing of restrictions and the reactivation of commercial operations, reflecting strengthened bilateral relations between Caracas and Washington.

The shift in energy flows is also influenced by geopolitical tensions and restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz, which have facilitated greater trade in Venezuelan crude.
