Venezuela reports rising exchange rates and airport reopening
Venezuela is experiencing continued currency fluctuations, with the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) reporting an official exchange rate of 787.52 bolívares per US dollar for August 26, 2026. This represents a 0.31% increase from the previous day. The euro has also risen, trading above the 900 bolívar threshold at 919.15 Bs.
In infrastructure and domestic news, the Maiquetía International Airport in La Guaira is scheduled to reopen for commercial and passenger operations on September 1, 2026, following structural repairs necessitated by recent seismic activity.
Additionally, the government has launched the 'Plan Escolar' to prepare for the academic year starting September 14, and has promulgated a new law aimed at promoting and protecting housing construction.
