Venezuela reports specialized medical advancements in Carabobo and Zulia

Medical teams in Venezuela have successfully performed high-complexity procedures in the states of Carabobo and Zulia. In Valencia, the Ciudad Hospitalaria ‘Dr. Enrique Tejera’ (CHET) conducted its first massive eventration surgery. A multidisciplinary team, including specialist Henry Casar, performed a complex procedure on a 71-year-old patient involving botulinum toxin placement, posterior component separation, and the use of a 30x30 mesh to correct an abdominal defect exceeding 10 centimeters.

In Zulia, the Hospital Universitario de Maracaibo (Sahum) has completed 71 pacemaker implantation surgeries as part of the ‘Plan Salud y Vida’ and the ‘Plan Quirúrgico Nacional’. These free procedures, facilitated through the VenApp platform, addressed cardiac rhythm disorders such as atrioventricular blocks and arrhythmias using unicameral and bicameral devices. The initiative is part of the ‘Plan Corazón Zuliano’ to strengthen cardiovascular care in the region.
