Venezuela reschedules National Popular Consultation to October 18
Venezuela's acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, has rescheduled the second National Popular Consultation of 2026 to October 18. The voting process, which allows communities to select local development projects, was originally set for July but was suspended following a major seismic event on June 24 that severely impacted states including La Guaira and Caracas.
The date was moved from a previously proposed October 11 to October 18 to avoid conflict with the Indigenous Resistance Day holiday on October 12. Rodríguez has called upon communal circuits and condominium boards to finalize their project proposals in preparation for the vote.
In response to the earthquake damage, the Ministry for Habitat and Housing (Minhvi) has implemented a new registration schedule for housing assistance for affected families. Citizens are being directed to attend offices based on the final digit of their identity cards to register for the Unique Housing Registry.
