Venezuela residents protest prolonged water shortages

Residents in several Venezuelan states are staging protests due to prolonged water shortages. In the El Valle sector of the García municipality, Nueva Esparta, citizens blocked roads to demand the restoration of piped water services after four months without supply. Although Hidroven director Franklin Cuevas arrived with water tankers, protesters rejected the emergency measure, stating that the limited volume provided by trucks is insufficient for basic hygiene and consumption needs.

Similarly, in the Mario Briceño Iragorry municipality of Aragua state, communities held nighttime protests using pots and whistles to demand potable water. Residents reported being without service for up to three months and criticized the local authorities and the perceived inefficiency of repairing water pumps. These demonstrations also resulted in significant traffic delays due to road closures.
