Venezuela: Residents report land burning and demand rural infrastructure

Residents in the Ciudad Varyna urbanism, specifically in the Los Caobos sector, have reported indiscriminate burning of land. Local inhabitants allege that a group of adolescents is responsible for the fires, which have destroyed vegetation and several fruit trees, including an Araguaney. Neighbors have also reported instances of vandalism, such as stones being thrown at homes, and are calling for increased police presence to ensure community safety and environmental protection.

In the Pedraza municipality, social and peasant leader Yonny Ángel has called for urgent infrastructure improvements in the Salome La Tigra sector. Residents are facing significant difficulties due to poor road conditions and the lack of a formal bridge over Caño Araqueña. Currently, producers must risk their lives and cargo by crossing via palm stalks. The community is demanding the construction of a 35-meter bridge, the rehabilitation of approximately 80 kilometers of agricultural roads, and better access to fuel for local producers.
