Venezuela schools prepare for 2026-2027 academic year

Educational institutions in Venezuela are preparing for the 2026-2027 school year amidst varying circumstances. In Barquisimeto, the Archdiocese has formally launched the academic cycle through its educational ministry. During an inaugural event, Father Jhonny Zambrano delivered a lecture titled ‘For a new leadership class in Venezuela with civic and Christian awareness,’ focusing on forming ethics and social empathy through the Social Doctrine of the Church.

In Caracas, the Colegio Iberoamericano in El Junquito has established a provisional campus to continue operations following the destruction of its original infrastructure during earthquakes on June 24. The school has adapted a former female boarding house into classrooms, including improvements to lighting and bathrooms. The institution is among 11 schools that suffered total collapse due to the seismic activity, part of a broader pattern of damage affecting hundreds of educational facilities in the region.
