Venezuela seismic activity prompts earthquake drills and monitoring

Recent seismic activity in Venezuela has prompted increased focus on disaster preparedness and monitoring. In the western region, Funvisis reported a magnitude 3.2 earthquake on Wednesday, August 19. The shallow tremor, occurring at a depth of five kilometers, had an epicenter located between El Vigía and Mérida.

In response to regional seismic concerns, residents in El Tigre, Anzoátegui, participated in an evacuation drill organized by Protección Civil Simón Rodríguez on August 20. The exercise, conducted in the Altos del Norte residential complex, aimed to provide technical training and self-protection tools to approximately 150 residents to prevent chaos during future emergencies.
