Venezuela seizes over 3 tons of cocaine in Monagas operation

Security forces in Venezuela confiscated 3.34 tonnes of cocaine in the eastern state of Monagas after an intelligence-led operation, Minister of Interior Diosdado Cabello announced. The raid involved a confrontation that left several suspects injured and fleeing through forested terrain.

The haul adds to a series of large drug seizures in the country, which in 2025 saw more than 65 tonnes of narcotics—about 65 % destined for European markets—confiscated. Earlier this year, Venezuelan authorities also seized 1.7 tonnes of marijuana in Lara. In February, Venezuela and the United States agreed to cooperate against regional drug trafficking during talks in Caracas between interim President Delcy Rodríguez and U.S. Southern Command chief Francis Donovan.
