Venezuela signs electricity recovery agreement with General Electric

Venezuelan regional leader Karim Vera, former deputy and head of the Primero Justicia party in Táchira, praised a newly signed agreement between the Venezuelan government and General Electric Vernova as a step toward stabilising the country's chronic power outages. Vera warned that the long‑standing electricity crisis was caused by officials who “stole billions of dollars” earmarked for grid investment in 2010, and urged that the deal deliver tangible results quickly for the people of Táchira who have endured repeated blackouts.

The accord aims to restore and modernise Venezuela’s power infrastructure, with Vera stressing the urgency of immediate solutions to end the “apagon‑apagon” (blackout‑blackout) cycle that hampers work and prosperity in the region.
