Venezuela signs energy cooperation deals with Italy, GE Vernova and US Energy Department

Acting President Delcy Rodríguez met with the secretary‑general of the Italo‑Latin American Organization (IILA) in Caracas to discuss cooperation on development, energy transition and diplomatic ties between Venezuela and Italy. The meeting included senior officials from PDVSA, the vice‑president of PDVSA and other ministries.

Later, Rodríguez signed a memorandum of understanding with General Electric Vernova, targeting the addition of at least 1,000 megawatts to Venezuela’s National Electric System within 24 months and aiming for 5,000 MW in four years. The agreement covers transmission line upgrades, new sub‑stations, technology transfer and training of Venezuelan staff. Venezuelan delegations included the vice‑presidents for Economy and Public Works, the minister of Hydrocarbons and the president of PDVSA.

In a separate session, Rodríguez held a review meeting with a United States Energy Department delegation, including senior advisors and the Chargé d’Affaires. The discussion focused on re‑establishing bilateral energy cooperation, emphasizing Venezuela’s intent to become a stable supplier in the international market and urging the lifting of sanctions.
