Venezuela summons Iran's ambassador over protest to U.S. pressure comparison
The Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Iran’s ambassador in Caracas, Ali Chegeni, on 29 July 2026 and handed him a formal note of protest. The note demanded that Iran cease any remarks that diminish Venezuela’s sovereignty, dignity or institutions. Venezuela’s foreign ministry reiterated the principles of reciprocal respect, sovereign equality and non‑interference that have guided the long‑standing strategic alliance between the two oil‑producing nations since the Chávez era. Iran’s foreign ministry and Araghchi had not responded to the Venezuelan protest at the time of reporting.
