Venezuela targets Canadian market to boost Margarita Island tourism

Venezuela is working to expand its tourism sector by targeting the Canadian market, with Isla de Margarita serving as the primary hub for receptive tourism. Venezuelan tourism officials, led by Minister Daniella Cabello, recently met with Eric Rodríguez, Commercial Vice President of Sunwing Vacation Group, and representatives from SunSol Hoteles to develop strategies for reintegrating the island into the Canadian travel market.

A key component of this initiative involves an upcoming technical visit by a Sunwing representative to Margarita to evaluate hotel infrastructure, service quality, security measures, and overall standards.

To support increased visitor flow, the Ministry of Tourism plans to coordinate with relevant authorities to optimize migratory protocols at airports, aiming to streamline passport inspections for international travelers. Beyond Canada, connectivity efforts include regular flights from Copa Airlines via Panama and planned charter flights from Poland scheduled for November 2026.
