Venezuela to face high temperatures through year-end due to El Niño

High temperatures are expected to persist in Venezuela throughout the final months of the year, driven by the El Niño phenomenon. According to projections from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inameh), temperatures may remain approximately 0.5 °C above usual values, resulting in a warmer end to the year than typically expected.

October is forecasted to be the hottest month, with temperatures expected to begin a gradual decline toward December. While regional variations may occur, the meteorological agency anticipates warm conditions will prevail for much of the last quarter.

In response to the heat, authorities recommend preventive measures such as frequent hydration, avoiding excessive alcohol or caffeine, using sunscreen with at least SPF 30, and wearing loose clothing. Special attention is advised for children, the elderly, and individuals with chronic health conditions. Additionally, officials warn against leaving people or pets in closed vehicles.
