Venezuela voter interest rises in potential regional elections

A recent public opinion poll conducted by the consultancy Poder & Estrategia indicates a high level of interest in participating in potential regional elections in Venezuela. Ricardo Ríos, president of the consultancy, reported that 67 percent of respondents expressed being ‘very willing’ or ‘willing’ to vote in a hypothetical scenario involving the election of governors and mayors under a new National Electoral Council (CNE).

Ríos noted that this figure is significantly higher than the historical participation rate for regional processes, which typically hovers around 50 percent. The study, which involved face-to-face interviews in households across the country, suggests a notable shift in political engagement. While the ruling party has historically shown higher voter willingness, the current data highlights a growing disposition among the electorate to participate in future electoral cycles.
