Venezuela water pipe explosion causes destruction in Táchira

A high-pressure 40-inch water pipe burst in Las Vegas de Táriba, located in the Cárdenas municipality of Táchira, Venezuela, on Tuesday, September 22. The explosion caused significant destruction, lifting asphalt from the street and sweeping away vehicles.

The incident resulted in two injuries. One victim, a security guard at a local auto parts store, was struck in the head by a stone propelled by the force of the water and required medical attention at the Hospital General de Táriba. Seven local businesses also sustained structural damage.

Local merchant José Vargas reported that the force of the burst caused walls to collapse and damaged heavy machinery and air conditioning units. Vargas noted that a similar pipe failure occurred in the same location approximately ten years ago.
