Venezuela women's baseball team wins qualifier opener against Great Britain

The Venezuelan women's national baseball team secured a 9-2 victory against Great Britain in their opening match of the World Baseball Cup qualifier held in Tainan, Taiwan. Due to recent heavy rains in the region, the game was reduced from seven innings to five.

Venezuela established an early lead with a five-run rally in the second inning, fueled by RBI doubles from Mariana Natera and Gabriela García, alongside defensive errors from the British team. Marlyn Yéndez contributed two RBIs, and Yohelis Colina added a sacrifice fly.

Pitcher Fradelis García led the defense, pitching 4.2 innings with eight strikeouts and allowing only one earned run. Oriannys Hernández closed the game by recording the final out. Venezuela is scheduled to face defending champion Japan in their next match.
