Venezuela rolls out financing, housing subsidies and aid trucks after June earthquakes

Acting President Delcy Rodríguez launched the Integral Economic Reactivation Plan, delivering 1,766 loans to merchants, entrepreneurs and families in La Guaira and other affected states on 6 August 2026. The plan targets commercial support, financial inclusion, market reorganisation, beach‑service assistance and temporary employment.

A parallel housing programme subsidises 80 % of the cost of homes up to $70 000, with the remaining 20 % financed at 5 % interest over 25 years; for properties between $70 000 and $100 000 the state covers 50 %. Banks act only as administrators of the subsidy funds. The Banco Digital de los Trabajadores (BDT) also provided direct financing to the same 1,766 establishments and installed point‑of‑sale devices to restore liquidity.

Humanitarian aid trucks – 299 heavy‑load “gandolas” – were dispatched from Colombia and Venezuela’s Táchira region, coordinated by the foundation Juntos se Puede and the Catholic Church, to deliver food, medical kits and tools to La Guaira. The housing and reconstruction effort has already helped more than 2,000 people in a week and is repairing over 13,000 homes, affecting roughly 66 000 residents. The June 24 double earthquake also damaged national transmission lines and a 600 MW power plant, with capacity restored to 50 %.
