Rutify hacking network dismantled in Chile

Chilean authorities have dismantled a cybercrime organization known as Rutify. The group, led by an 18-year-old operating from the Coquimbo region, specialized in the illegal extraction and sale of personal data through cyberattacks.

Investigations by the PDI and the Supraterritorial Prosecutor's Office revealed that the network targeted several major public and private institutions. Compromised entities include the National Consumer Service (Sernac), Fonasa, the General Treasury of the Republic, the Municipalidad de Las Condes, and the Secretary of Digital Government.

The group utilized malicious software to obtain credentials, take control of accounts, and perform mass data exfiltration. This resulted in the exposure of sensitive information, including medical histories, residential addresses, and national ID numbers (RUT).
