Venezuelan authorities seize over 3 tonnes of cocaine in Monagas
Police and military forces in the state of Monagas seized more than 3,347 kilograms of cocaine at the San Joaquín farm in the rural parish of Temblador, Libertador municipality. The operation, carried out by the National Antidrug Command (CNA), the Strategic Operations Group (GOES) and the National Police (PNB), was marked by an exchange of gunfire as suspects fled toward the mountains. Authorities retained three vehicles at the scene and arrested one individual; no injuries were reported. The seizure involved 20 bundles containing 3,051 packages of the drug. The Ministry of Interior, Justice and Peace, led by Minister Diosdado Cabello, released photographs of the confiscated cocaine and the officials involved. The incident follows a similar 2023 raid in Monagas that dismantled a logistics base of the criminal group known as El Viejo Colombia.
