Venezuela withdraws from Serie del Caribe Kids due to visa issues

The Venezuelan national youth baseball team will not participate in the III Serie del Caribe Kids, scheduled to begin on August 10 in Nayarit, Mexico. The Confederation of Caribbean Professional Baseball (CBPC) officially announced that the Venezuelan representation from the Liga Venezolana de Béisbol Profesional (LVBP) is unable to attend.

While the specific causes are to be detailed in the coming days, reports indicate the delegation faced significant visa issues. The team had been held in Bogotá, Colombia, while attempting to resolve immigration hurdles required to enter Mexico. Despite efforts from the LVBP leadership, including President Giuseppe Palmisano, the necessary travel permissions were not secured in time.

The CBPC expressed solidarity with the young players, their families, and the coaching staff, noting that the LVBP had exhausted all administrative avenues to ensure their participation. Consequently, the tournament will proceed with five teams: the defending champion Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, and two Mexican selections.
