Venezuelan baseball players Bryan Rincón and Ranger Suárez achieve milestones
Venezuelan baseball prospect Bryan Rincón has been named the Eastern League Player of the Week in Double-A. Rincón, the fifth-ranked prospect in the Philadelphia Phillies organization and a member of Navegantes del Magallanes, achieved a 20/20 milestone this season with 20 home runs and 25 stolen bases in 101 games. During a recent series in Portland, he batted .429 with four doubles and two home runs.
In Major League Baseball action, Venezuelan pitcher Ranger Suárez and Dominican pitcher Sandy Alcántara engaged in a competitive pitching duel during an interleague matchup between the Boston Red Sox and the Miami Marlins. Suárez pitched five innings, allowing one run and striking out four, while managing four walks. The performance brought Suárez's season ERA to 3.35 with a 5-3 record.
