Venezuelan Cattle Federation Requests ISLR Tax Exemption to Boost Meat Inventories

The Federación Nacional de Ganaderos de Venezuela (Fedenaga), represented by its president Edgar Medina, announced that it will hold a meeting with the Servicio Nacional Integrado de Administración Aduanera y Tributaria (SENIAT) to seek reinstatement of the exemption from the Impuesto Sobre la Renta (ISLR) that was granted to the sector in 2001. Medina argued that the lack of agricultural credit and the current tax burden make it difficult for producers to increase meat and milk inventories, especially in areas still affected by the double earthquake of 24 June. A Fedenaga commission is working to ensure protein reaches those zones. He noted that Venezuela has roughly 11 million head of cattle and that annual slaughter reaches about 1.5 million animals (1.2 million cattle and 300 000 buffalo). Medina called for a stronger state policy to enable year‑round farming and improve sector efficiency.
