Venezuelan CICPC Detective Killed in La Urbina Shooting
Detective Wilson David Garrido Ortega, a member of the Central Homicide Investigation Coordination of the Cuerpo de Investigaciones Científicas, Penales y Criminalísticas (CICPC), was shot on the night of 28 July while riding his motorcycle on Avenue Rómulo Gallegos at the La Urbina intersection in Miranda state. He received emergency medical aid and was taken to Hospital Doctor Domingo Luciani in El Llanito, where he died shortly after due to the severity of the wound.
A joint operation by the Municipal Police of Sucre (Polisucre) and the National Police Bolivariana (PNB) led to the arrest of José Ángel Carrión Cartaya, 37, a suspect identified as the alleged shooter. He was captured a short distance from the crime scene near the Guaire River with a revolver seized as evidence. The case has been handed over to the Public Ministry for further investigation and prosecution.
