Gus Ormo found dead in Florida pool under suspicious circumstances

Venezuelan singer, composer, and pianist Gus Ormo was found dead in the backyard pool of his home in Weston, Florida, on Friday, October 16. The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) is investigating the death as a “suspicious incident.”

Emergency responders arrived at the residence on Quail Roost Drive around 9:00 a.m. following a 911 call regarding a possible drowning. Upon arrival, paramedics found Ormo submerged in the water and pronounced him dead at the scene. The case has been assigned to homicide and crime scene units for further investigation.

Reports from local media and emergency dispatchers have highlighted unsettling details. Aerial footage showed a long blue cord on the patio leading into the pool, and some reports indicated that the 911 caller described the man as being “tied up.” While authorities have not officially confirmed if the body was bound, the presence of cords or hoses near the scene has contributed to the suspicious nature of the investigation.

Ormo’s sister, Antonieta Ormo, confirmed his passing, noting that the family is unaware of the circumstances. The musician, known for his romantic compositions and piano virtuosity, had recently been promoting his instrumental album, AGAPE. His body has been transported to the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the official cause of death.
