Venezuelan families demand mass release of political prisoners

Families of political detainees gathered at the Central University of Venezuela, pressing the government to free all 372 prisoners and reject a gradual release policy. Activists from the Alliance for Freedom carried a banner reading “Freedom for all political prisoners” and urged U.S. support, citing a forthcoming transitional dialogue scheduled for August 1.

In a separate but related case, Jesús Suárez, a 42‑year‑old from Táchira, has been held for over two years on accusations linked to the “White Bracelet” case. His mother, unaware of his imprisonment, believes he is in Chile and pleaded, “Call Jesús and tell him to help,” while his sister warned that the prison conditions have severely damaged his health and the family’s wellbeing.

Both stories highlight the broader crisis of political incarceration in Venezuela, with families demanding humanitarian relief and international attention.
