Venezuelan Football Federation pays over $7 million in legal settlements

The Venezuelan Football Federation (FVF) has paid more than $7 million in total following the departure of former national team coach José Pékerman and legal disputes with former national team coordinator Pascual Lezcano.

According to FIFA documents, the FVF was required to pay Pékerman an indemnity of $3,420,000. After accounting for interest and other costs, the total disbursements for the Argentine coach reached $4,707,429. A final payment of approximately $2,997,429 was made through CONMEBOL on November 19, 2024, to settle the remaining installments.

In addition to the payments to Pékerman, the federation paid $2,338,119 to Pascual Lezcano following a favorable decision in his dispute regarding his role as national team coordinator. When including administrative costs related to FIFA proceedings, the total cost to the FVF exceeds $7.1 million. A separate claim by Pékerman for an additional $1 million regarding a breach of confidentiality was rejected by FIFA.
