Venezuelan foundations launch relief efforts after June 24 earthquakes

Two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela on 24 June, causing extensive damage in coastal states such as La Guaira, Miranda and the Capital District and leaving hundreds of thousands of residents displaced. UNICEF estimates that around 680,000 children require urgent assistance, while the World Bank and the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery valued direct infrastructure losses at roughly $19.6 million.

The popular Venezuelan band Rawayana announced the creation of Fundación El After, a humanitarian initiative focused on providing comprehensive aid to children, adolescents and families in the most affected areas. The foundation plans to begin accepting public donations on 15 August 2026 and will coordinate with local partners such as World Central Kitchen, Cáritas de Venezuela and other NGOs.

Separately, the non‑profit Fundación Monagas también es Llano deployed volunteer teams to La Guaira, delivering more than 10,600 meals, medical supplies, clothing, hygiene kits and assistance for over 800 pets. With support from private‑sector partners, the group intends to maintain its distribution centre and prepare a third aid deployment in the coming weeks.
