Venezuelan Government Launches Maternal and Vision Health Initiatives in Mérida and Monagas

On 16 June, the Mérida state government, through the Gran Misión Venezuela Mujer, organized a matronatación session for mothers and infants in the Santos Marquina and Libertador municipalities. The water‑based activity included educational talks on lactation, prenatal nutrition and legal protection, aiming to stimulate early psychomotor development and strengthen the emotional bond between babies and caregivers.

A day earlier, the Centro de Alta Tecnología “Dr. Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara” in Maturín re‑activated its gynecology unit and distributed 450 corrective lenses to residents of Monagas. The services, part of the 1×10 del Buen Gobierno program, will offer consultations, ultrasounds, colposcopies and cytologies to women in the state’s thirteen municipalities.
