Zulia Governor Luis Caldera pushes health‑facility recovery and Super Niño mitigation

Governor Luis Caldera reported that the Genesis Petit Oncology Hospital in San Francisco, Zulia, is 98 % complete under the Plan Nacional Salud y Vida 2026, entering the equipment and service‑redefinition phase. The effort is coordinated with the national health authority led by interim president Delcy Rodríguez and involves regional health officials, municipal leaders and community health boards.

In parallel, Caldera chaired a unified‑command meeting that activated a strategic plan to mitigate the impacts of the “Super Niño” climate event. The coordination includes the Venezuelan National Guard, the Bolivarian Armed Forces, civil security bodies and local indigenous communities. Five immediate action lines were set: continuous monitoring of six Zulia reservoirs, deployment of fire‑prevention brigades in national parks, preventive maintenance of the electric grid, and public guidance on water use.

Both initiatives reflect the regional government’s drive to strengthen health infrastructure and improve disaster preparedness ahead of the 2026 national health and life plan.
