Venezuelan groups alert U.S. Congress to rising migratory uncertainty

Venezuelan exile organizations, including VEPPEX and AMAVEX, have submitted a report to the United States Congress and Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding increasing migratory uncertainty for the Venezuelan community.

The report highlights several policy shifts occurring since 2025, such as the termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS), which affected approximately 607,000 individuals, the reduction of humanitarian parole programs, and the end of automatic work permit extensions. These changes have reportedly led to interrupted employment, loss of health insurance, and difficulties renewing driver's licenses.

Additionally, the organizations raised concerns regarding the application of the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 in relation to the criminal gang Tren de Aragua. They argue that law enforcement should rely on individual evidence rather than using nationality, physical appearance, or tattoos as substitutes for proof of criminal affiliation.
