Venezuelan Inces launches push to restore technical training

The Instituto Nacional de Capacitación y Educación Socialista (Inces) announced a renewed focus on technical training for workers, saying the institution had drifted toward social and community work in recent years. President Wuikelman Ángel Paredes said the shift aims to meet Venezuela’s shortage of skilled technicians needed for industrial revitalisation, citing the need for updated curricula, collaboration with companies, and a dual‑education model that combines classroom learning with on‑the‑job apprenticeships.

Inces officials also promoted the programme in the state of Apure, noting that courses are free, available at several regional centres and online through a virtual campus and mobile app. More than 500 participants have been trained in the local community, with offerings that include project design, cost management, construction, and small‑business administration. The institute highlighted legal hurdles concerning apprentice age limits that it is working to resolve.
