Venezuelan INPARQUES reports Waraira Repano quake safety and pet ban at Parque Francisco de Miranda

A multidisciplinary commission from Venezuela's Ministry for Ecosocialism, the National Parks Institute (INPARQUES) and the Venezuelan Society of Geologists inspected the Waraira Repano National Park after recent seismic activity. They found no structural damage to the rock massif, stating that only superficial vegetation slippage occurred. While most access roads remain clear, certain routes such as Cotiza‑Galipán are still restricted and areas like La Julia and Sabas Nieves 2 have been temporarily closed due to landslides and cracks.

INPARQUES also reiterated its biosecurity policy prohibiting the entry of pets, including dogs and cats, into the Generalísimo Francisco de Miranda Park. The ban is intended to prevent the bidirectional transmission of zoonotic diseases and to avoid stress to the park’s captive wildlife, protecting both the animals and visitors' pets.
