Venezuelan man killed in Santiago apartment, partner detained

A Venezuelan man was found dead in his apartment in the Estación Central district of Santiago, Chile, on the night of July 27. Municipal security officers and Carabineros responded to a report of a man with leg injuries inside the residence and confirmed the victim was deceased. The victim's partner, also a Venezuelan and mother of their two minor children, was arrested after investigators found blood on her hands and legs and reviewed security footage that contradicted her claim the victim had been injured outside. Prosecutor Luis Contardo said the investigation is ongoing and the woman remains in custody pending further evidence. The case is being handled by the OS9 unit of Carabineros, with no prior reports of a dispute that night.
