Venezuelan man sentenced to more than five years in prison for domestic violence in Alto Hospicio, Chile
A court in Alto Hospicio, Chile sentenced a Venezuelan national, identified by the initials J. A. G. R., to a total of over five years in prison for multiple offenses linked to domestic violence against his former partner.
The judgment covers three years and one day for possession of an altered 9 mm blank‑fire pistol, 541 days for illegal ammunition, 301 days for contempt, 41 days for simple threats, two 41‑day terms for minor injuries, and an additional 60 days for a third minor‑injury count. The court also barred the offender from contacting the victim for ten years. The sentencing follows incidents in June and July 2025 in which the accused assaulted the victim, her two minor daughters, and a neighbor, and also discharged the altered firearm.
The case was presented with testimonies from the victims, witnesses, police officers, and forensic experts, including a ballistic report confirming the weapon’s specifications.
