Venezuelan diaspora in U.S. mobilizes voters amid deportation and TPS concerns

The Venezuelan diaspora in the United States is organizing political action in response to shifting immigration policies. The newly formed Coalition of Venezuelans in USA, launched in Miami, announced plans to mobilize voters in upcoming U.S. legislative elections. The group expressed indignation over the handling of the Venezuelan crisis by the Trump administration and the impact of mass deportations, particularly in areas like Doral, Florida.

Simultaneously, approximately 5,000 Venezuelan beneficiaries are facing the expiration of their Temporary Protected Status (TPS) as of October 2. While some protections were maintained through federal litigation, many migrants now face uncertainty regarding their legal status and work permits.

In Washington, the U.S. Department of State has signaled support for a democratic transition in Venezuela. Spokesperson Tommy Pigott stated that the U.S. hopes to see opposition figures return to the country and emphasized that the goal is to facilitate sustainable elections supported by free press and reliable voting infrastructure.
