Venezuelan mining authorities meet with El Callao communities
Venezuelan authorities held a meeting with residents of the Belén community in El Callao, Bolívar state, to strengthen mining sector organization and community participation. The session was led by Héctor Silva, Minister of Ecological Mining Development and President of the Corporación Venezolana de Minería (CVM), alongside officials from Minerven and the Ministry of Social Movements.
The initiative aims to reorganize productive activities and promote responsible resource management. During the assembly, officials encouraged participation in the upcoming Popular Consultation scheduled for October 18. Community members presented organizational proposals and local needs, focusing on converting mineral resources into direct benefits for workers and residents.
Minister Silva also reaffirmed support for the consolidation of the Belén Commune, which includes more than 1,180 families. Additionally, the meeting highlighted the community's role in a regional reforestation program that has expanded from a single hectare to 7,000 hectares across Bolívar state.
