Venezuelan MLB players impact Boston Red Sox rise and face injury challenges

Meanwhile, Venezuelan star Ronald Acuña Jr. has seen his performance dip relative to Dominican rival Juan Soto because of recurring injuries. Over nine MLB seasons Acuña has appeared in 870 games, about 310 fewer than Soto’s 1,180, leading to lower offensive totals. At 28, Acuña still has potential, but his health issues have allowed Soto to extend his lead in the Venezuela‑Dominican rivalry.
