Venezuelan Nurses Based in Chile Honored for Earthquake Relief in La Guaira

The Federation of Colleges of Nursing Professionals and the Carabobo Nursing College awarded more than 20 Venezuelan health professionals residing in Chile for their emergency response after the twin earthquakes that struck La Guaira on 24 June. The ceremony was held at Arturo Michelena International Airport in Valencia, where Julio García, president of the Carabobo nursing college, presented the recognitions.

The volunteers, organized through the Venezuelan Association in Chile and the Venezuelan Nurses Association of Chile, spent three weeks in the disaster zone. The team comprised two rescuers, five doctors and 15 nurses, who brought nearly a tonne of medical supplies and provided aid to roughly 1,600 people. They emphasized the ongoing need for medical, food and psychological support for affected communities.
