Venezuelan police detain suspects in fuel theft and illegal land occupation
Police officers from the Sucre municipality in Miranda state stopped two men who were allegedly stealing diesel fuel used for debris‑removal machinery in La Guaira. During a routine patrol they inspected a van, seized three plastic tanks containing about 2,000 liters of diesel, and placed the two detainees under the authority of the Public Ministry for further investigation.
In a separate operation in Cumaná, Sucre state, police arrested five people for the illegal occupation of a plot in the Guarapiche area. The group, which included a family displaced by recent earthquakes, faced charges of invasion, assault on officials and incitement to hatred. All five were also handed over to the Public Ministry, and authorities announced plans to hold worktables with the landowners to seek a housing solution for the affected families.
