Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez linked to Plus Ultra case via intercepted messages

Intercepted messages obtained by U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) suggest connections between former Plus Ultra executives and Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez. The communications involve Rodolfo Reyes, a former major shareholder of Plus Ultra who is subject to an international arrest warrant, and other executives including Julio Martínez Sola and Raif El Arigie.

The messages, dating around late 2020, indicate efforts to secure flight permissions in Venezuela during the pandemic. Businessmen reportedly sought to escalate contact from then-Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza to Delcy Rodríguez to facilitate business operations.

Additionally, businessman Julio Martínez Martínez, who reportedly paid over 380,000 euros to former Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero for alleged consulting services, stated that his primary contact in Venezuela was Rodríguez, whom he met through the former Spanish leader.
