Venezuelan students win awards at Mathematics Olympiad

Four Venezuelan students from the National Scientific Seeds Program (Programa Nacional Semilleros Científicos) earned distinctions at the XLI Iberoamerican Mathematics Olympiad (OIM 2026) held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The competition included participants from 22 Iberoamerican countries.

José Marquina, 17, and Luis García, 14, both secured bronze medals. Additionally, Manuel Rivas, 17, and César Leal, 16, received honorable mentions after correctly solving two of the six complex problems presented during the two-day evaluation. Minister of Science and Technology Yván Gil Pinto praised the students for their logic and creativity.
