Venezuelan woman arrested in Colombia with Interpol red notice

Colombian police have arrested Katherina Dakarina Martínez Ojeda, a 34-year-old Venezuelan national, in Pereira. Martínez Ojeda was wanted by Venezuelan authorities and held an Interpol red notice for her alleged involvement in the 2020 double homicide of two sisters in Guárico state.

The victims, identified as Inelda del Carmen Bruguera Alvarado and Adleni Josefina Bruguera Alvarado, were attacked in their San Juan de los Morros residence during a robbery. According to investigations by the Venezuelan Public Ministry, Martínez Ojeda allegedly played a key logistical role in the criminal group, facilitating the transport of stolen cash, valuables, property documents, and vehicles. She is also accused of using digital distortion tactics to obstruct the initial investigation.

The arrest was coordinated through information sharing between the Pereira Metropolitan Police, the Directorate of Criminal Investigation, Interpol, and Migración Colombia. Martínez Ojeda has been placed at the disposal of Colombian judicial authorities to begin extradition proceedings.
