Venezuelan woman identified after being found dead in Peru

Authorities in Peru have identified the victim of a homicide discovered on Cabeza de León beach in the Huacho district. The deceased has been identified as Marialis Barrios Castillo, a 21-year-old Venezuelan national who resided in Huacho.

Passersby discovered the body along the coastline in the Huaura province on Friday, September 25. Preliminary reports from the National Police of Peru indicate the body showed signs of violence and gunshot wounds. Investigators are currently working to determine whether the murder occurred at the beach or if the body was abandoned there to obstruct the investigation.

The Huaura Provincial Criminal Prosecutor's Office has ordered a necropsy at the Huacho Regional Hospital to establish the exact cause and time of death. Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Department (Depincri) is reviewing security footage and gathering witness testimonies to locate those responsible.
