Brazil arrests Venezuelan man for murder of partner

Authorities in Brazil have arrested a Venezuelan man accused of murdering his partner, Evelin Betanco, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Betanco, a migrant who had moved to Brazil seeking better opportunities, leaves behind a minor child.

This incident follows a similar case from five months ago in the state of Goiás, where Jhorlianny José Sánchez Gil, a 28-year-old Venezuelan mother, was killed by her former partner. In that instance, her eight-year-old daughter witnessed the crime. The suspect in the Goiás case was also apprehended while attempting to flee.

In a separate but related report from Erechim, Brazil, a 27-year-old Venezuelan migrant named Evelin Del Carmen Vera was killed by multiple stab wounds in her home. Her partner, also a Venezuelan national, was detained by police. Records indicated that Vera had previously filed domestic violence reports against him earlier this year.
