Venezuelan health professionals present emergency plan to Dinorah Figuera

Medical, academic, and nursing professionals in Venezuela have submitted a comprehensive technical proposal to Dinorah Figuera, president of the 2015 National Assembly, to reconstruct the country's public health system. The emergency roadmap aims to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis by focusing on hospital financing, strengthening primary care, and ensuring coverage for chronic diseases.

Key demands within the document include increasing public health investment to 8% of the GDP and providing direct subsidies to patients. The specialists also called for greater institutional transparency, specifically requesting the publication of weekly epidemiological reports and formal medical yearbooks to end current data opacity. Additionally, the group urged an end to the criminalization of medical professionals.

The proposal is intended to be presented to Jorge Rodríguez within the framework of ongoing political negotiations to serve as a technical basis for national reconciliation and institutional recovery.
