Venezuela's Central Bank Sets New Dollar and Euro Rates as Inflation Outlook Worsens

The Banco Central de Venezuela (BCV) published official exchange rates for August 4, fixing the U.S. dollar at 752.09 bolívares and the euro at 865.17 bolívares. A day later the rates were updated to 755.15 bolívares per dollar and 870.04 bolívares per euro.

Telecommunications provider Movistar Venezuela recalculated its mobile‑data plan prices using the official dollar rate, raising the cost of a 2 GB plan to 1 714.72 bolívares (≈ 2.28 USD) and a 25 GB plan to 13 553.03 bolívares (≈ 18.02 USD).

Economist Luis Oliveros warned that, despite a narrowing exchange‑rate gap, Venezuela’s inflation could reach 300 % by year‑end, after a 15 % monthly devaluation of the bolívar and a 130 % increase in the first half of 2026. The government has recently restored relations with the World Bank and IMF and raised the minimum income benefit.
