Venezuela's Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia joins CELAC dialogue on UN Secretary‑General candidates
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia González took part in the CELAC Interactive Dialogue convened by Uruguay’s pro‑tempore presidency. The meeting brought together candidates from the region for the United Nations Secretary‑General post. Plasencia called the process a historic chance for Latin America and the Caribbean to project leadership at the UN, stressing respect for international law, peaceful dispute resolution and consensus building. He urged a strategic, cohesive approach under the principle of “unity in diversity” and highlighted the importance of strengthening the multilateral system and deepening CELAC integration. The minister said the best candidate must be firmly committed to UN values, capable of building bridges, and thanked regional solidarity after the two devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela.
